Brocade Stops Black Eagle (Crow-Mandan-Hidatsa) was born and raised on the Crow Indian Reservation, where she currently resides with her husband (Levi) and three sons (Danger, Rivers, and Crimson). Brocade's mother, who was a great seamstress, named her daughter Brocade, a fabric easily distinguished by its “regal look.” A majority of Brocades couture looks are created with Brocade fabric as an homage to her mother. Taught to bead at a young age, Brocade has been beading and honing her craft for over 30 years. Brocades' ready-to-wear apparel is a direct reflection of her beadwork and lifestyle. Brocades beadwork is inspired by old Crow geometric designs and color palette.
Brocade has worked as a creative consultant and has several of her pieces on display at the Autry Museum in Los Angeles, California. Brocade has also been featured in the Magazine “Cowboys & Indians.” Brocades' work has also been showcased in the hit television series “Yellowstone.” To date, Brocade has been asked to showcase her work on countless runways across the country and was asked to participate in an indigenous trade mission in Paris, France.
Brocade earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Montana State University and served her community as an RN for more than a decade. Brocade is a Mountain Ultra Trail Runner and outdoor enthusiast, having completed several ultra marathons to date, including the Crazy Mountain 100.
